They aren't my photo's and I don't even know the person, hence the link to her FB page (I followed the link from SANParks facebook page). Maybe try inboxing her personally on FB?

I have to wonder why the driver didn't move forward out of the way of the Ellie?

People underestimate the power of the thick skins. Golden rule – KEEP YOUR DISTANCE! It is their territory. A vehicle will not protect you from an angry eli. Your car, 2 tons vs eli, 5 tons – do the maths!

I know this is a bit off-topic, but I tend to like ellies, but to show you the speed they can go at. As background, I was driving back from Sable dam, first car to spot this aggro boy, cars piled up behind, pushing and shoving, and I knew I was going to get nailed first, as there was no reverse space.

The pics was taken after I saw a gap, Inches it was at the end, and at 9 frames per second, and above the Kruger speed limit........ The pics will tell it all.

Going down, to knock the car.

I was lucky, these animals are fast, strong, and very dangerous. And it could happen to anybody at the wrong time, my heart goes out to the people involved, but I like the ellie. Be carefull, and enjoy them.

Elephants are best viewed across the river through binos.

I second, third and fouth that!!

They put the fear of death in me.
We had a similar experience, we were parked about 50m from where an agro young bull disappeared into the bush. A car passed and he came storming out and decided that we were the culprits. It felt like hours passing as we watched him clear the tar coming head on towards us. As he came closer he dropped his head as if he was going to head bump us and no more than 1m, I'm not joking, 1m in front of the bullbar he swerved to the side and came trumpeting past my window. I saw my life flash before my eyes and the Pajero being reduced to the size of a mini.

We were only parked way down the road and did not move an inch. We could not move, we were towing a trailer and had cars backed up from behind. I still to this day applaud SO for keeping his cool.

Nope, no one can tell me they need a reason to charge!

Since that day, KTP is my favorite park! They removed the last ellie when they took down the sign board!

Eish, then you guys better stay clear of the north.

There, the ellies have real attitude. 8)

There is a story about the ellies that was pushed into the TFP, where a ranger told the people "Shoo'ing " them to the Moz side said:

"Are you crazy, this is the north, it only works in the south"

I try but I still can't stay away Scips but the choices are clear: Ellies down the road = a u-turn or me on the floor in a mess of tears.

Love watching them on TV tho!

Goooood luck BB!

BB, they only come say Hi in the campsites,

JenB, I spent some time with some ellies, and this is how good it can get, they are the most awesome animals, and i prefer a good ellie sighting to a Lion sighting. 8)

We were in Berg en Dal when the 2 attacks took place and just wondered if there was any feedback from SANparks as to the fate of the poor rhino cow who was injured after the walking trail incident?
We saw helicopters circling very low and heard they were trying to locate her.
All she was trying to do was protect her young.
Sure all the poaching which is happening in Kruger has a lot to do with the animals twitchy behaviour.
All very sad
