Around 10h30 on Monday 12th November on the S25 between Malalane and Crocodile Bridge, we came across this scene. Apparently an angry Elephant had lost his cool and flipped this Hyundai Atos. The damage to the side of the car from his tusks was clear when we drove past.

Does anyone have any more information on this incident? We have no idea how many occupants were in the vehicle, or whether anyone was hurt, as they had been driven from the scene by the time we had arrived (all of their belongings were still in the car however).

Welcome to the forum StNick. Do you have any other pics of the incident?

Thanks for the welcome and quick replies!

The media release has the incorrect location (unless there were TWO elephant incidents yesterday!) but nevertheless I'm glad to hear that there were no serious injuries sustained!

This is the only other image I have of the scene.

This shows that we should always keep our distance with ellies as they are very temperamental
Glad the oke had only a few bumps and bruises

A sad start or a bad ending, shame. As long as human and Ellie is not hurt :(

Not sure how to add a link from Facebook :? But there are pics that show most of the incident from someone who was there and recording it. The elephant lifted a first car off the ground (from behind) and then flipped the second car (there are pics that show the holes in the passenger door from the ellies tusks). Scary stuff!

Not sure if this will work?

Hmmmm..... I wonder how close the ellie allowed the tourist to approach before losing his cool :hmz:
