Hello,
I was in Kruger last week and saw many new birds for my list. But I need help with ID'ing some. So here is the first one:

I don't really know where to start when identifying this bird?
(I saw this bird somewhere west of southern Kruger)
Thanks for your help :D

You're right, I looked it up and it might be a female red headed weaver. Thanks :)

Hi All,

I was just wondering why it is so difficult to find and photograph this species in the park. Its a very easy bird to identify, but I haven't seen one in 6 or 7 years in the park.

These pics were taken in Jan 2004 in the olifants camp. They were nesting over the grass island near the petrol station.

Anyone seen any nesting sites recently ?

thanks,

Neil

Hi Neil

This one is busy building his nest at Afsaal. They are breading there every year.

Thanks LL - that's good info re Afsaal . I have seen them at the deck at L sabie and at Shingwedzi near the restaurant , but can't think of many other locations where you have a reliable chance of spotting them .
