I am considering joining the HR's but I have a couple of questions.
1) I love getting out in the outdoors and joining the HR would give me great satisfaction, but I have a very heavy work schedule and don't know how much time I could spend helping out. What sort of time commitments do you expect from HRs?
2) I am also studying a correspondence Nature Course through ANT. (Just the theory section of FGASA) so if I do help out I would love to get out in the parks rather than sit at a gate or behind a computer. This may be selfish of me but the short time I have to spare I would like to make the best of.

Welcome to the forums!
If you click on Honorary Rangers under the special interest groups tab above you will be able to find out much more information. Contact your local region to find out just what they would expect of you. Different regions have different criteria re activities depending on their geographical situation with relation to parks, and the member profiles.
You will however be expected to attend at least 70% of the region's meetings. And generally you are expected to contribute to a mix of activities, usually approximately 6 weekends worth each year.
