We visited Thanga twice during our week-long stay in Shingwedzi during May 2012. I just love the place. It was exceptionally dry (for May).

I used the toilet facility while there, but have to admit that I found it a bit scary. Anything - from horrible spiders or even snakes - can hide under those longdrop toilet seats. But it is so much better than having no toilet facilities (like so many other places in Kruger actually in need of such facilities).

I agree with you Stoffel. The one at Makhadezi is similar. The photo of Elsa is great and I cannot think of a better table to have Christmas eggs and juice. Tshanga is a very special place to many I think.

The last time I was at Tshanga I asked my better half to marry me, on the rocks!
This was in 2010.

Wildkyker, I was there two weeks ago. Yes, a very special place. I always go there whenever I am in the north.

Just why it is so special.
The bird doesn't sing because it has answers, it sings because it has a song.

We were there two weeks ago. A veld fire had recently been through the area - up and over the hill. Grass and bushes scorched, Mopani tree at the summit burned down. Benches and tables are unscathed.

That's sad Dream Weaver, but it is amazing how quickly the veld does recover. Of course, a tree burned down will not recover, but saplings will appear in due course.

It is a lovely lookout and I am looking forward to being there in a couple of weeks' time!
