Buksv1, firstly a very warm welcome to you :D

I hope that you get more information on this. It would be such a diappointment to miss out on something so special.

Excellent news Buks! Will you please report back on your experiences? :D
And if you would like to, you could write a travel tale for us to read :D
But I am very much interested to hear about your experience of Balule as a first timer 8)

Buks, I am soooooooo pleased that you can go. Enjoy your stay. I have only camped at Balule once before and just loved the atmosphere.

I will be staying again in early Jan and am so looking forward to it.

Buksv1, Balule is our favourite camp of all time, followed closely by Tsendze

We enjoyed our six night stay in the Balule camp. The camp is well looked after by Titus.Every morning the braai and dustbin was cleaned and emptied. The ablusion was spotless. The camp was busy at night time but never full. The low level bridge is still under construction and i dont believe it will be ready by the 15th of next month as per their website. The park seem to be very wet,we had rain and cloud cover for two days, the rest was very hot.The wind also shook the caravan the one night. The game viewing was not to bad,for the cats we only saw lion.
December we might try Tsendze,if the missus can get of work,we must also fit in a couple of days with the daughter over xmas in Umkumaas.
Balule will see us again.

I allways shouted praise for Tsenze but due to its size and the fact that large groups seem to have discovered it I have come to prefer Balule . It apears to me that of late certain folks arrive in groups (is it the Giriyondo traffic who have to overnight ?) and as they are in transit to a coastal breakaway where the sea drowns out noise they seem to talk loudly and with little concern for their neighbours as they are just spending one night ... ?

We stayed at Balule from 6 - 14 October and still rate it tops. Titus and Mable run a great ship, the repairs have added comfort and the view is superb. Even the ablution block has been spruced up. I have never seen the centre of the park so lush. Game viewing was plentiful, birding obviously better than our usual time in September. One works harder for sightings, but the lower traffic volumes and peace in camp at night far outweigh other considerations. By the way, we stay in the huts, but both huts and camping areas were very quiet. Roll on September 2013 for Tam & Balule, 4 nights in each
