There hardly goes a day by without me visiting the Forum. I often then find myself admiring the hundreds of magnificent photos included in TRs.

But when I see, for example, some of the colours on birdie-pictures I cannot help but wonder: was the colours enhanced on the photo before it was posted? What else was done? How?

The only thing I do I ever did to any photo I used in a TR was to crop it.

What have you done? What works well? What should be avoided? :hmz: :hmz: :hmz:

My workflow:

Import photos.
Scan through them, select the ones you would like to show. (I use colourcoding in Lightroom.)
Filter so only the ones you selected show, and remove doubles.

Then the work starts...
Correct lens profile. (if applicable)
Straighten horizon. (if applicable)
Crop.
Remove dust. (if applicable)
Check Exposure and adjust if need be.
If need be up Clarity and Vibrance a little bit.
Export and post.

For panoramic photos it is a slightly longer list as I have to run the photos through Autostitch and Photoshop. And there I do add missing bits if I miss a bit of sky/foreground. The sky can also get odd greyer patches which I try to make less visible.

The results? See the link below, there are about 1500 photos there.

I'm like you Dupaac...........what you see with my photos is almost as they were taken. :cam:
Just a bit of cropping occasionally.
I wouldn't have a clue how to do anything else!!

Oef....! That is quite a tall order if you want me to write one. But there are tons of good ones online, like on the Adobe site: Click!

Just don't do the export to Photoshop, that is where you are going to change the photos. And then you do not show us the photo you took, but the photo you created on your computer.
If you keep to the workflow I use you will end up with true to life photos. (And it is done in a jiffy.)

Hi Dupacc,

I personally have 2 types of photos, those that are shots I like and I will spend time enhancing the colours to match them when they were taken, crop and sharpen; these I put on my webpage and photos that I put on the forum to demonstrate a point on travel tale.

Two things that Ive learnt are..

If you can shoot RAW, do so as you can adjust the white balance of the picture easier.
and sharpen your photos twice, once at full size so you can print them if you want to and then once when your image has been resized for the web.

I also dont mind seeing a photo that has been changed....unless they've added a TIGER!!!etc, I see them as being enhanced.

Hey

1. I import RAW images into lightroom
2. Run through them and do light editing to see which images i prefer
3. Organise the one i like into a collection on lightroom
4. Go to the collection and begin editing
5. Correct white balance
6. Crop, straighten
7. Correct exposure, up contrast, up clarity, play with a few sliders in lightroom
8. Lens Correction
9. Play with the S-Curve
10. take dust marks out
11. convert to black and white when needed (personal preference of black and white images)
12. export choosen to another folder (upload a select few to my website/blog/Facebook page)
13. hope others enjoy my images
14. often put the selected onto my ipad for further review

If I need to do panoramics, then i use photoshop and the photomerge option, often correcting a few minor issues, taking dust out etc.
