Here's another tree for which I need ID help. This one I saw in Marakele in early April 2012.

Trying to find out for you. Do you have any closer photo of the leaves and pods?

Thanks EJ and BB87 — did you perhaps mean Albizia petersiana? Unfortunately I don't have another photo of this particular tree

As long as those are not thorns visible, it is Albizia petersiana or many-stemmed false-thorn

Again thanks, EJ and BB87

I wonder whether either of you can help me with this next one, seen near Olifants in KNP on 25 April 2012.

Image

And are these two, which look quite similar to the KNP tree, and whch I saw at Mapungubwe on 12 April 2012, the same sort?

Look like large-leaved rock-fig.....often found in rocky areas with the large white roots over rocks and into rock crevices etc. Will check scientific name later.

Thanks, EJ  I'm quite happy with just the common name, tho it's nice to have both. But I like having the common name because I'm not going to remember the latin   I did a google and think you're (as usual) spot on. And the scientific name is, I think, Ficus abutilifolia?

One way I learned from scientists to try and remember the scientific name is to take the first 3 letters from each part of the name and remember that as a 'tag'. So for this one Ficabu! As you get used to the various names used it becomes easier to then remember the full name.

Clever system, ecojunkie! I have enough trouble to try to remember the common names
