Thanks Rosemary!

After a braai you retire for the night. The tent is rather stuffy and you decide to a let a little air in. You decide to unzip the bottom of the tent flap, just a little (a few inches) as it is the closest zip to you. Is this a good idea?

Enough for a nose to enter ... or the dead Rinkhals to make an appearance?

No. :naughty:

It's okay if the tent is on the top of a camper van. Otherwise, not a fine idea because snakes and spiders do have a way of sneaking through the smallest spaces.

Warm air rises , therefore , you should rather open at the top , otherwise the warm air will remain trapped inside the tent :)

It is hot. Walking on the open plains near Satara our guide heads with his group towards a small rocky hill for a rest. They have walked some way already, and the group looks forward to get in to some shade, rest and have something to eat and drink.

Suddenly the guide turns away from the hill, and leads the group back in to the open plains.

A bit later he explains that he saw a small herd of springbuck staring at the hill, and realised that a predator was hiding there.

Did he act correctly?

He did the right thing. Predators use elevated areas to look for prey. In one of the National Geographic films, it shows a wild cheetah jumping on top of a game Land Rover in order to get a better view. It was filmed in Tanzania. But, springboks near Satara?? Tsk tsk tsk!!

:D :naughty:

You are all wrong!

Our guide should have headed straight towards shade the moment he started "seeing" springbuck in KNP! He should have realised that he was starting to get delerious form the heat of the sun, and was in danger!

Giving IT to Rosemary for spotting the springbuck!

Both sneaky and clever Imberbe!!!!

You are on a rocky outcrop. You spot, just the head, of a Mozambique Spitting Cobra in crevice, facing you. You are not wearing glasses. You are safe, watching the snake, as long as it remains lying in the crevice?

Springbuck is very old-style terminology, though, IB ... I always heard the herds to be springbok. Must be a guide in his Nineties.
