When you book accommodation in Kruger do you book the accommodation in the same camps that is familiar or do you try some of the alternative accommodation in different camps as well? I always book the units with perimeter view but maybe the other accommodation is also just as good? I would rather book during another period if my preferred accommodation is not available. I am just wondering if the type of accommodation that a person book is really that important to enjoy the Kruger experience.

I would say for me it is a yes.
After all it is your vacation, so spoil yourself if you like.
A view is a plus, it adds a little bit more value to your stay. :D

I have certain preferences.........if these are met, I'll book in a new camp/ new type of accommodation.

I love to have a chalet at the fence........but have made some booboo's over the years. Looked at the map and it seemed as if the chalet was on the perimeter, only to discover there's huge bushes between you and the fence or a road or even worse.......the chalet was facing the other way round!!!

To me it is part of the experience.
For example the bungalow I book at Olifants. I choose one with a view, preferably the ones overlooking Olifants Lookout (107-112?, not the ones near the restaurant).
You go to sleep with the doors open, listening to the water and the night sounds. Then in the morning you sip coffee and watch the veld wake up.
At Punda it is the tents for me. Nice and quiet, with genets and bushbabies as regular visitors. That is Kruger as well for me.
I could go on... Each camp has its own, and yes, I do book specific places with a reason.

I like a bit of both.

There are the places that I just love, such as Lower Sabie tents and Tambotie.. of course, but then I also like to close my eyes and stick a pin in the map.

Most of my tried and trusted resulted from me trying something new.

I would say I would stick to the accommodation I know, within a camp I know..........like Duco, we always book the Olifants river views, but since joining the forums, I have visited other camps that I maybe would not have thought of.................and the same goes for driving areas.
(Visited Pafuri twice, before I knew Crook's Corner even existed!!)

Definitely an Amarulatjie!!!

We have also visited “new” camps (for us) after reading about them on the forum and were pleasantly surprised  . Although we in general prefer to stick to the accommodation in the camps that we are familiar with. Once we by “accident” booked the huts in Shingwedzi with the kitchen on the northern side of the older area and since then we only want to stay in those (to us) historical huts when we are in Shingwedzi.

A nice drink is part of the experience, and as an international visitor I also count biltong.
But we are racing away from the original question?

In the "olde" days We used to send in a letter ( snail mail) with our list of what we wanted and then it was a LONG wait .. we always stated "best accommodation available" we seldom got what we wanted but now days we wouldn't dare ask for the best accommodation... some of it is far too expensive.
I am not fussy and take what I can get Oh and I like trying new things too.

Rooies , I agree  I don't know what it is that some people , and especially " foreigners " go so , bezonkers about this drink :hmz: :hmz: I'ts not much different from any other cream liqueur , containing sweeteners , and artificial flavours , etc .

They obviously have never tried the " real stuff " , such as Marula beer ( a very refreshing , tasteful , lowish-alcohol intoxicating drink , or even better - Marula mampoer -- wow  Now that opens your eyes
