Plant & Flower I.D book

Unread postby Stritchy » Fri Apr 27, 2012 11:40 am

Hello all. I am going to be in South Africa for 6 months from June to December. Then hopefully permanently.

Last time I visited the west coast national park it was flower season and I was irritated that I did not know the plants. This time I want to be prepared. Can anyone suggest a good flower i.d book?

Thanks

This may be too late to help Stritchy, but might be of interest to others. The field guide recommended to me by a top SA botanist is Field Guide to Fynbos by John Manning, published by Struik.

There was a wild flower guide to plants of the West Coast published by the Botanical Society. The best place to find books on wild flowers is at the bookshop at Kirstenbosch.
Ask not what your plant can do for you but what you can do for your planet.
