Indeed Leana, wonder what will be "lurking" there in the night

There's Gemsbokplein water hole and then Gemsbok plein the camp which is being used by Kids in the Park, both are absolute amazing places. And just to go and sit there either during the day or night is just so peacefull.

I can only try to imagine ...

I read once that there is a tribe somewhere in Africa that believes that after moving very fast, one must sit - to give your spirit time to catch up with your body.

And so many people used to say that TR did not deliver!

On my first visit to the KTP in 2007, it was a year of unprecedented drought, when we saw lots of Eland, but they were emaciated, dehydrated and looking very sad. We also saw lots of Eland carcasses (uneaten) and there were Eland simply standing and dying at waterholes. The waterholes were contaminated due to the very low water tables. On subsequent trips, the Eland were conspicuous by their absence, so it is good to know they are returning again. Perhaps the 2 years more rains and lush vegetation is bringing them back?

18/08 Morning Drive- General plains game, Kudu, Lion, Brown hyena, black backed jackal

Morning All,

Just returned from yet another beautiful Kalahari morning walk.

As we opened the gate to exit there was a male lion calling (not to far). hoping to find him we must have just missed him on the road. On the walk we had 4 Eland herds (One herd of about 50 individuals) and then we stalked another herd and came up to about 20m from them before they ran off. Other than that we had awesome tracks in the sand (leopard) and general game.

Morning all,

Just returned from a morning walk. what an amazing red sunrise, only the Kalahari can deliver such a picture. Animal wise it was quite except for two herds of Eland (Which we decided will now form part of general game due to the numbers in the area )

While on the walk we heard the lions roar from Twee Rivieren side, the chances are good that we have a afternoon walk so maybe then we will go lion searching.

I think that the lions will take advantage of that Eland all over the place - what a nice meal they will have (poor Eland )

The lions are indeed having a ball; they have caught 3 Eland the last 7 days behind Twee Rivieren camp. It is the same lions which have been seen early in the mornings and let the guests know of their presence every morning by roaring loudly.

with Eland on the menu - they must be very happy lions.

And the guests will be happy too.

Morning All,

Just returned from a morning walk. It started of nice but then the wind picked up and we knew we were in for a very 'cool' walk. As we reached our walking destination we got off the vehicle to be greeted by the roaring of a male lion, the guest’s faces said it all they were unsure if they still wanted to walk......

Although the wind was not in our favour we decided to see if we can track down the lion. After a few minutes of walking it became clear that the lion was aware of our presence and that we were following him. His tracks showed that he picked up pace and wanted to make sure we didn’t catch up, which unfortunately for us was the case, but tracking him and listening to him roar was enough for the guests.

Other species which was seen on the walk included:


Steenbok
Gemsbok
Red Hartebees
Blue Wildebees
Springbok
Elanb, Eland, Eland and Eland.
