Very same tree, I think, Elsa, but on a grey, overcast day. I'm also wondering what it is. Isn't it right near a historical marker for someone's trading post? Definitely a very memorable tree!

We have already expand it to Top Ten

Yep we had difficulty in deciding on 10 only... there are so many but here's the TTTT (the top ten trees)

baobab
nyala tree
jackalberry
sycamore fig
marula
fevertree
sausage tree
leadwood
Apple leaf
natal mahogany

In no particular order.

Baobab - deffs
Nyala tree - no
Jackalberry - deffs
Sycamore fig - Deffs
Marula- deffs
Fevertree - Obviously
Sausage tree - deffs
leadwood - deffs
apple leaf - no
natal mahoganny - not sure .

My additions -
Umbrealla thorn - its in every sunset photo for goodness sakes
African teak - huge tree , only in northern natal and eastern lowveld
Mopani - Also mostly a knp lowveld only tree , .It plays such an important role , and is a very prolific tree in the park .
There are huge specimines also , the scrub found around mopani camp is due to localised soil conditions .

What a lot to choose from eisha .

Yes Arks, it definitely looks like one and the same, we always stopped and admired it. Jock actually took the pic.
I think it is at a place marked Sardelli"s Store. Not too sure who he/she was tho.
