Could it be the Leopard Tortoise, as they are known to carry a variety of diseases that can infect, and kill, animals and humans?

The venom is extremely dangerous, causing internal and external bleeding. However, it takes a long time to work, so it may take anywhere between 24-48 hours to produce serious symptoms. However, one must remember that it also depends on the health of the victim and if there are any predisposing conditions, such as haemophilia, in which case serious bleeding could begin much sooner. Also, it depends on how much venom is injected and if it is injected directly into a vein or artery. Therefore, the sooner one gets to hospital, the less serious the potential for death.

Which lizard defends itself by grabbing its tail in its mouth and rolling into a ball? It is found mainly in South Africa and lives in communities that sometimes number in the hundreds.
