The road between samevloeiing and rooiputs is open, from there you would take the rooiputs turn off (at the rooiputs waterhole)for about 15m then turn left on the botswana side (no permit needed for thios part of the botswana road) and the road joins the road at Kij Kij.

Just a follow up.

The deck (at Gharagab) is not covered in any way! An umbrella or similar would have been great.
A gezebo won't work because there are two great big poles in the middle of the deck.

I will devise some kind of shelter next time I go...

Just a quick question - will a Toyota Avanza be good enough on the normal Kgalagadi roads?

it seems to me Avanza is a bit higher (in size) than "normal" (sedan) car
and what do you call "normal" roads

Eh,,,yes, Anne-marie. As DuQues put it so eloquently in an sms now, a normal sedan = a need for folding up Ducos! Me am fine, he's got long legs.
With normal roads I mean the ones everybody says are doable with a sedan.

Mostly the Aoub riverbed and the second duneroad. Maybe a bit of the new Twee Rivieren - Nossob road.
But that last bit we will find out nearer to the date. Which happens to be in

sable road is normal road in Kgalagadi
dune's roads are a little bit hard (not difficult... hard... in touch English )

a little bit like snow in Europe... except in the sand we stay stuck instead of skiing
