Just returned from a great trip to Punda Maria and Tsendze!! Our first time in the far north!

We saw Eland on 3 separate occasions!! Once at Klopperfontein dam and 2x on the S49/S50 near Tsendze. We found Tsessebe at the Mooiplaas waterhole on the S49/S50 junction every day. Also saw a beautiful Sharpe's grysbok near Punda.

Btw, are there always as many Ostrich and Kori bustard around the Tihongonyeni waterhole? Breeding ground?

Silly question perhaps...how do I upload pics?

We recently saw a herd of sable (approximately 7 or 8) on the Voortrekker Road about 4kms from Pretoriuskop - have managed to see sable the last 3 times we have visited Pretoriuskop so have been very lucky!!!

On our last trip in March we saw the elusive Pretoriuskop Lichtenstein Hartbeest on the Voortrekker road, about halfway. He was grazing with a herd of Impala, so we almost missed him.... Also saw about 9 Sables at Kruger tablets (their home). 2 Sharpe's just before the H8 (Olifants) turnoff from Letaba, one of our most Southern sightings of them. 1 Reedbuck between Satara and Olifants.

The rare antelopes eluded us for a few trips, but looks like they are back again.

Love these rare animals; always exciting to see them.
Tsessebe, although mostly seen north, is the easiest to see on a regular basis. Sable is less seen and we thrill every time we see a herd of these magnificent mammals -
have seen them around Pretoriuskop and Mopani, and once near Satara.
Eland less seen again, but up around Punda and Shingwedzi we have seen them a few times; and once near Phalaborwa gate.
Reedbuck is seasonal for us - sometimes we see them regularly; other times it is Reedbuck drought.
Roan we could see fairly often in the old days; however, with the relatively recent massive decline in numbers, it would be a fantastic day to see them again.
Lichtenstein's is the other one we struggle with the most and we have only seen them twice - once near Mopani and once near Pretoriuskop.
Suni - listed on the small five - we have seen only once, that near Punda.
Oribi we've also only seen once, on the Fayi Loop near Pretoriuskop.
And still waiting to see a Natal Duiker, and a grey Rhebuck (if it still exists in Kruger).

@One, if i can choose any one of your sightings it will have to be the Suni!

What a lovely place to see them too, Carol.

Samoesa, it was a quick, but wow, sighting; my daughter and I were travelling the Mahonie Loop when we noticed a small antelope on the left side in front of a hillock. At first it looked like a baby Sharpe's grysbok but the colouring was wrong. Immediately I knew it was the rare suni antelope (which I later confirmed from a mammal book) and, with that uncontrollable tremor that marks great excitement, I lifted my camera to capture the moment. Would you believe it, but it chose that exact instant to move forward behind the hillock. We waited for almost half an hour, but it never emerged again; and though photoless, we were left with that vivid memory of a rare sighting.

We also saw a Suni years ago near Shinwedzi, got a pic somewhere, very exciting to see, people asked if it wasn't a steenbok, but no it's so much smaller, never seen another one since.
