Here are a couple we took in May last year:

Hi GavinW,

The nicest campsites are definitely in that corner, pity about no electricity.

braais in KTP

Unread postby mariek » Sun May 13, 2012 1:20 pm

Hi all,

We are visiting KTP in 3 weeks time and I cannot wait! We are staying at Nosob, Kalahari tented camp and Kieliekrankie. I was wondering if it is safe to braai in the evenings after we've returned to camp once gates close? I am use to doing this in Kruger but had the safety of fenced camps then...I was not sure if it is safe to braai after dark in KTP?

I welcome your thoughts.

Thanks

Marie

Hi mariek, welcome to the forum!!! Be aware it can be very addictive

You can braai quite safely after dark :D Nossob is fenced so no real problems except may a jackal or two (not sure how much of a nuisance they are now) and both Kalahari Tented Camp and Kieliekrankie have build in braai's on your veranda ..... actually it is an unwritten rule .... you HAVE to braai while in KTP  The sight and smell of a braai while the sun is going down and the world turns from pink, orange and yellow to black is one of the things that makes KTP so special. Have a fantastic trip and enjoy the wide open spaces and silence ... a true way to recharge those batteries :D

Mariek, also remember to take warm clothing, as it can get cold in KTP.
When we visited KTP in April the morning temp was between 1c and 6c in the morning. Nights was also cold. :)

Thanks Picnic - am i right in thinking it'll be very cold in the morning and evening but then quite hot during the daytime? It'll be an eclectic bag to pack :)

The only camp that have electricity 24H is Twee Rivieren. The wilderness camps only have solar power for the lights and gas for the stove and refrigerator. Nossop and Mata-mata have generators that powers everything but they get switched off at night. (22h00 till 05h00) :) Warm clothing a must.
