Picnic,

The distance is not the problem, I'll trap for a week if it comes to that, I'm just not sure if they'll let me in if I get there with my tent and cooler box on my carrier.... :hmz: :naughty: :naughty: :naughty:

For that matter I think they're so angry at me for just thinking about it that they just deleted 250 of my posts somewhere along the line  :rtm:

 Dan, why not? :hmz: After all that effort of cycling to there? They have to give that a second thought.

So I have a list of rituals which I didn't even think were :slap:
As I enter the Kruger I don't put up a YEAR but I do basically Camouflage my whole side mirror yellow :w:
My binocs, cameras, map and cigs on the passanger seat (with my handy cancerwater (waterbottle for my ash and cig buds) cause I don't want to pollute my lovely park)
Then I have to stop at every camp and check out the park shop (I always look for new game ranger stories etc. )
And at last when I'm camping... A braai is mandatory with a bottle of Amarula (just bliss)

I forgot about that one. Me and SO will buy a cold one at the nearest town before we hit the gate, and finish the contents before we enter the park. Thats my two ash-trays for the first day. And they go everywhere with me, lookouts, picnic spots, one in the tent, next to the braai, where-ever. I absolutely hate walking around with siggy buts in my pockets. But I also hate trying to quit, I failed to many times already.....

:hmz: ... Interesting...

That may explain why we're usually very lucky with Leopards (except LIT in any case  ), but not so with cheetahs (and pygmy kingfishers). Because someone will always say by the end of the second day... (if relevant)... "you know, we haven't seen leopard yet"... and lo and behold, we'll see one in the next day or two..

But, when it comes to cheetahs and pygmy kingfishers and various other critters, it is more likely that we'll say: "I hope we see XYZ this time."... and then... nothing..

I've seen no cheetah for 6 days, 5 nights in the KTP! (Lions yes.... Everywhere and almost every day.)

But I have seen cheetah twice in the KNP ... (not nearly enough times to suit me!)... so maybe frequency of visit has got something to do with it... will have to go back to the KTP. Soon. and more often

Hey Dabchick,

You sure your name is not supposed to be Lucky Eddie.

(He is the guy in the comic strip Hagar the horrible that it always rains on, and nobody else).

I'm telling you, mention to your SO in exact words "Hey (insert SO's name), you know what we haven't seen is a cheetah."

Roughly 10 minutes later, you will see a cheetah.... trust me on this

If it doesn't happen, let me know... Then I will go down to the park, and check on your behalf

Our Kruger Rituals seem similar to everyone elses, Braai every night, dose of Amarula, I must stop at each camp shop and buy books and then out special kruger ritual - which is not always good on my pocket:
Each child gets the note (yes the paper money as the kids call it) of the animal that they spot that matches the note. You can imagine how horrified and excited I was during our last visit last March when we came we across 2 leopards during that visit, personally I would prefer them spotting more rhinos -
