I just would like to know if the Kruger Park does training for members that wish to join the anti-poaching unit, how can you get hold of the unit.

I'm planning on doing my anti-poaching course through Protrack-Anti poaching but would rather do it through SANParks in Kruger if they do offer training

Thanks

pietblok,

I do not think that SANPARKS offer this facility. ProTrack do issue a certificate but this is not necessarily accepted by SANPARKS as they require FAGASA certification. Can put you in touch with someone.

Hi I've made contact with a guy Ruben de Kock from African Field Ranger Training. He does the anti-poaching training for the Kruger Park's rangers.

I can do the training in the Kruger Park in July and you get NQF certificate.

Maybe its the better option,I dont know!

Regards

Do you have to catch poachers to get the certificate?

Does anyone know to whom I can speak to regarding work in Kruger National Park.

Where do they post these vacancies, def not on the Sanparks website!

Iv'e made contact with several HR staff in Skukuza and was looking at applying for a anti-poaching/field ranger post, which I heard about by word of mouth.I was told that the interviews have been done and that applications is now closed.Sanparks claimed that they would be adding 150 more rangers this year. All I want to know is when more or less this year will they be recruiting the rest as I have spoken to one of the training providers which said that they have more training later on in the year.

Why can't the relevant HR-staff not answer me.

Who must one contact to get help regarding things like this.

Thanks
Pieter

That is exactly my point, they don't update the vacancies and you hear about jobs like the field rangers they are recruiting but it was not advertised on their website!

Did the HR department at least take down your details?

If I was running the HR department, I would certainly have a database of people wanting to get into anti-poaching.
I hope you can get into anti poaching, reading your post I can feel your passion

Good Luck to you

keep us posted on your progress

No they did not, even asked them if I could forward my CV and was told to wait for the next add in the newspaper......they don't have a clue when they will be recruiting more members...how can this be?

They must know because the training providers told me their is more training later in the year.

It is my passion and yes I am willing to work for a crappy salary, but maybe they just don't want help.

Funny though as they have the poaching under control!!!

I posted about a week ago regarding work in Kruger, anyway after I went through allot of trouble to email certain HR staff in Kruger I was told to check out the website and certain newspapers, I went through allot of old papers and couldn't find any ads, I didn't leave it there and started sending emails to "white" staff in Kruger and was told that they do not advertise jobs in newspapers and that they only do it internally and being white you have no chance of getting in! Is this how one gets treated after its been a life long dream to work in the park, they simply just lie to you because your white??? And please don't delete this post, I want people to see how Sanparks operate!!!!

Pietblok, I am sorry that you feel so disillusioned.

I often look at the vacancies, just out of curiosity. I do know that there are periods of flux and change. I was very curious about a position of "baboon chaser" in the Cape sometime ago.

Piet, don't be put off by negative comments. It seems that you really want to work in Kruger. I am not sure of the type of work that you would like to do. If this is what you want, keep trying.

Pietblok - you don't say what qualifications you have. Maybe go and study and get your FGASA qualifications, including rifle, and then see if there is anything. Also, have you looked at some of the private reserves in the Greater Kruger area or even other SANParks in South Africa.

Good luck!

I've got more than enough hospitality experience, I will even waiter if I have to.I'm doing a anti-poaching course in July. It's not about qualifications, it's about HR staff that just lie to you and that are to lazy to even look at your CV and just simply tell you sorry you need to look at the ads in newspapers.
