Hi,

I have seen a serval (early morning) and a leopard (mid day) on this road, although both sightings were brief.
But a serval is a serval so this road is high on my list.

I had lion kill on this road and many other lion sightings on diffrent trips,also had Cheetah sightings,this is definately a good road for sightings.

Hi all,

I love this road, best done early morning. On one drive saw 3 Wild Dog hunting in the road. They chased after Impala and dissappeared into the thick bush and never returned. Shortly thereafter at the waterhole had a lovely sighting of Madolo, one of the emerging tuskers, for quite some time. He was very relaxed and came right up to my car.

I will be at Skukuza shortly and will definately be doing this road again!

Yet this is without a doubt one of the top leopard roads in Kruger Often great sightings! Even without the sightings, the scenery is something to enjoy!

I totally agree with Cheets!
It is my best road in the Kruger and the H10 coming in a close second. There is this spot where the trees makes a roof and then it is followed by a dry river bed. Such a peaceful and serene spot!

It is also a big 5 road for me, and I've seen AWC on a sunset drive on this road
A road I would recommend for anyone in the South

I have, by the way, never heard the S65 called anything other than simply "Watergat". Not sure why. (Yeah, I know there's a watergat, but it hardly the only one in the whole KNP)

No offense, but this made me laugh out loud! As if animals I saw somewhere 11 years ago would still be there. Besides, nobody needs this forum to figure out what the hotspots are for certain unmentionable species, it is common knowledge amongst those who need to know, whether for legitimate or illegitimate reasons.

I'm all for taking every sensible step to combat poaching, but plain silly ones serve no purpose whatsoever.

These are rules that SANParks have asked us to abide by and whether or not we agree with them, we are on a site provided for and funded by SANParks and it is just common courtesy to abide by them please.

Johanrebel, to add to what Saraf has written, I checked the files as to your original post here. No where did you state how long ago your saw the rhino at the location you gave. So, if the moderators did not know it was 11 years ago, nor will any poachers trawling the forums for such info know.

You may be amused by the edit, but rhino poaching is an extremely serious matter in South Africa at the moment, and many forum members were uncomfortable with what you posted.

This is a must road for me.

We were staying in Skz and drove to Transport dam. On gravel road back from transport dam we found a cheetah in the road no cars around we drove behind it almost 1km until it crossed the tar road when the 1ste car came. then onto S65 probably around 8-10km from the H1-1 my GF asked me to stop at dry riverbed as the sun was setting to our left. Was late afternoon near gate closing. After about 10min i said well we kinda need to go as the gates will be closing etc as i switch on the car i look to my right without saying a word i took the camera from her and i basically didnt take my finger off the button etc. Male leopard in the riverbed walking towards us. We were the only car he kept walking climbed out of the river bed walked infront of the car into the bushes on the left ontop of a rock. We HAD to leave him there as we would have been very late not just late lol (which happens quite often with me). Cheetah and leopard in 30min. Any case enjoy pics that follow.
