In winter, the best place to be is by a water source...

Myself, Scipio, Scorpion and Ralph will agree with WTM on Maroela loop.... we found leopard there during the cricket weekend this year

Another 'hot spot' for me is on the first few km dirt road (can't remember now the number) between Olifants and Letaba from Olifants. I have found a leopard there 2 visits in a row after staying at Olifants.

something or the other there at all times of the day. And if you're patient lots will be revealed.

Nsemani dam is a real winner rusky, this last weekend we saw so much game there...and not just at a certain time of the day...all day long animals were coming and going...(obviously winter helps)

Leopard hotspot: first 5 km of the southern part of the s114, and byamity weir.

Richprins - there is a long, flat (and slightly elevated) rock about 50m from the intersection of your S1 / S7 hotspot on which there always seems to be an animal when I've driven passed over the years. Got photos of sable, buffalo and rhino all on the same rock (in different years obviously)!

BH...not sure about I gave you this info....

But anyway, I would advice to stick to the s44-s93-s46, Engelhard dam road and the river part of the s47.....

Seriously, I really stick to the 'river rule' when it comes to Leopard searching, I see that as the only part where I can increase my chances of seeing these elusive cats......I have say about a 80% of all Leopard sightings close to a river..

The rest is just @ the right time @ the right place. But....I do make a distinction between the 'rain season and dry season' The abudance of water definately influences my anticipated routes

One of the “hotspots” for us in Kruger is the Orpen-Satara road and the waterholes and gravel roads running adjacent and close to the tar road along the way. That has always been a productive area, in the sense of spotting animals, for us. But I think the Kruger “hotspots” change during the different seasons and over time.

Agreed Grantmissy, the hotspots change. But on the other hand, the terrain will always remain more or less the same. And this consistency does allow certain areas to be hotspots. The animals go where there is an abundance to eat

And drink!

Everywhere to me in the Kruger is a "hot spot", you never know what is going to make an apperance when, that is the thrill for us when we are on holiday, we are always filled with excitement and anticipation when on our drives or even just sitting around the campfire or even sitting at a picnic site, that is what makes the Kruger magic!!!!
