Correct Imberbe. Once the beetle has formed the ball, he must move it away as soon as possible. Other beetles may steal the ball and the 'builder' of the ball may even be killed by other beetles. It may happen that the ball is rolled against an obstacle and the beetle must then get on top of his ball, dance around to determine the direction in which he has to roll the ball. Scientists have established that they use the sun to give them directions.

Is it true that dung beetles are host to a parasite which detects the odour of the dung and by moving or vibrating in a certain way guides the dung beetle onto the dung ?

Spiders duh... According to 'Game ranger in your backpack" they will choose large spiders like Baboon spiders to paralyse and then place it in a sealed underground chamber with a single egg laid apon it.
