Actually a young Ground woodpecker which I had been photographing just before this photo.

And as this is General Photography Chat, who of you have tried out Lightroom version 4?

Hi Everyone,

So we are regular Kruger visitors and recently i thought it was time to get the last 5 years of photos together and share them. Take a look here and if you are a member of Flickr send me a contact request or comment.

Regarding Wildlife Photography, (as if there was any other kind!) do you sharper forumites shoot in RAW or JPEG and why? :hmz: :D

Hi Huntsman
Historically I captured in JPEG until advised by a far more experienced photographer.
JPEG is compressed file which means the camera only captures a % of the data. this means that enhancing the image later is restricted.
I now always capture in RAW. RAW is the complete file no data is missing.
This gives me a much better opportunity to enhance, crop and generally tidy up my images.
A disadvantage of RAW is that your camera will crunch the data more slowly than JPEG unless like me you have a professional end camera body.
If your camera is not at the professional end consider capturing static and slow moving events in RAW and fast moving occasions in JPEG fine. This will enable you to take a stream of images without the camera locking up after a very few shots while it catches up saving the data to the memory card.
Some of my images can be seen on Flickr - I am John Walton 51.
Hope this helps.

Agree with JDW...I capture my images in both RAW and JPEG though so I have best of both worlds. I mostly use the JPEG when adding photos to forums and Facebook....but when I have the need to process a photo for print etc then I have the RAW as well. Obviously that chomps through the memory cards very quickly but I have sufficient space so not too much of a problem for me. :)
