As far as I know the deck is OK - it is in use anyway! No news on Skuks, sorry.

Sadly a life was lost in one of the villages in Nkomazi ... the roof of a house collapesed from all the rain and killed a man. And last night a car crashed off a bridge near Hoedspruit into the river and was swept away and has not been found despite frantic search efforts. It has not been found.

sorry guys.
net very, very slow.
Bert, looks like lake panic is ok. the dam wall at the golf club broke, and not lake panic as I stated.
I was there today and got back at least half my golf balls that I had lost. Still looking for the other 724, though. There is no water in the dam at the clubhouse, and me and the kids had a ball walking in there to retreive my balls. It sounds like the sea here at my house, with the water rushing past.
Will give some feedback and photos later tonight

I do not know for certain what the situation is - but I believe that access from Kruger gate is via the causeway in the staff village. From there it would be down to the high level bridge on the way to Lower Sabie and up to Tshokwane/Satara. That bridge was damaged in that railings have gone, but I understand it is in use.

Probably wise to contact Skukuza or Satara direct and ask them in the morning. Things are changing constantly as more information comes in.

I am fairly certain you will be OK! The bridge between LS and Skuks is the only connection with the north at the moment and people are moving between camps.

Just checked and 'our' high level bridge is damaged but being used. So any bridge out of action is at Skuks itself.

There is another tropical storm developing in the Mozambique channel called Funso. At present it is more likely to affect Mozambique that South Africa although it will probably impact on our weather and bring more rain to Kruger.. See HERE

TT, a reply from Jerry at Biyamiti:

The camp is still closed; many of our roads are damaged and very wet.

Thanks

I have asked him if it is possible to say when he thinks the camp will open.
