Hi, any idea of the situation at Satara? Last report I saw was that they were still without power.

Judging from previous reports, Satara camp is fine! It is also accessible. I don't know if it has power though :?
The media release would have said if it was without power I am sure. Also the webcam is up and running and takes its power from the camp.

So if the high water bridge outside skukuza is closed one can not drive to satara? Is that correct? I am going to olifants tomorrow and wanted to enter at kruger gate? Can i still do that?

Alf, the media release stated this:

Quote:
Satara to Tshokwane is fine.
Tshokwane to Skukuza is fine.

You should be able to enter at Kruger gate and get to Olifants.

Sadly a life was lost in one of the villages in Nkomazi ... the roof of a house collapesed from all the rain and killed a man. And last night a car crashed off a bridge near Hoedspruit into the river and was swept away and has not been found despite frantic search efforts. It has not been found.

sorry guys.
net very, very slow.
Bert, looks like lake panic is ok. the dam wall at the golf club broke, and not lake panic as I stated.
I was there today and got back at least half my golf balls that I had lost. Still looking for the other 724, though. There is no water in the dam at the clubhouse, and me and the kids had a ball walking in there to retreive my balls. It sounds like the sea here at my house, with the water rushing past.
Will give some feedback and photos later tonight

That is very sad news Dalene, that at least one life was lost during the floods.
I hope they will find the person who crashed with his car off a bridge.....

Once again, THANK YOU ALL for your updates and info in this thread. What a great service the forum has provided.

Also, I can't say enough about the good crisis management that SANParks has displayed. From handling things on the ground, to making sure people are safe and secure, to communicating updated information and ever-changing status, the men and women of SANParks have done a stellar job. We often nitpick at SANParks, and may disagree with action and direction, but in this regard SANParks had their responsiveness and professionalism on display.

May the upcoming days/weeks be safer (and dryer!)
