LP actually opened on Sunday 30th and I was there (BB and others.)
It looks fantastic from the outside, new Thatch and all.
Not much changed on the inside though, except that the benches received a new coating of varnish and it was still wet in places (yep-where I sat) so ended up with a sticky backside
They have also installed hinged windows with wire mesh, presumably to close it at night.
Other than that, it remains the same old fantastic place to be!
This Goliath Heron reacted to the news that is was open again.

The story I heard was ,It was built because there was fear that the Skukuza camp was concerned about its water supply. Hence Lake Panic, but I would like to "really " know myself. :hmz:

Hi Redgannet,

Warm welcome to the forum! :D

You can read about the building of Lake Panic here: LEST WE FORGET - Tertius Minnie
That is a wonderful thread, well worth a read from beginning to end. :)

Redgannet, a very warm welcome to you :D

I must say that the first time I saw a signpost to Lake Panic, I thought that I had misread the board. It has since become a "must visit". I am really looking forward to seeing the upgraded hide.
