I had two separate sightings of these beautiful creatures on the S36 last month. The first was this magnificent bull who was unwilling to share the water at Manzimhlope!

The followind day I saw a herd of seven south of Shimangwaneni dam.

Thanks everyone.
It was a lovely sgihting tho' a bit far away and the pics are cropped.
I was there for nearly half an hour hoping he would come closer and during that time two cars went by without stopping!!!

Hi

Spotted my first sables in KNP. Like so many on this thread, my sighting was on the S36 on the way to Skukuza from Thsokwane, 4 km before you hit the H 1-2. The first view was so clear that it was difficult to believe what I had just seen. They were 2 of them and they kept on moving downhill and into the bushes but I did get a few pics :)

Thanks Granjan. Saw your pic and they were great. If I had read this thread earlier, i would have probably hit the S 36 in one of my earlier KNP outings :). Always great to see the lesser seen ones.

A first look at this beauty … male Sable sitting in the grass, very relaxed and like us enjoying life…

He moved his head slowly from left to right and back…as a professional model…

After about 5 minutes posing he decided to stand up and no…he did not walk away immediately but showed himself again this way…. And… just for ourselves , no other cars just a private show.
