Has anyone stayed in the forest hut (FH2S) at Storms River recently. I see it has cutlery, crockery, water closet and shower, but a communal kitchen. Whereas the FH2 has communal ablutions. Is that correct?

Hi Senyetse.
We spent one brief night at Storms River in January and yes our forest hut had a shower and loo en suite. This was new to me...but I noticed not all the huts had en suite bathrooms. I am not sure of the hut number that we stayed in. Maybe phone the park to check which ones have en suite bathrooms.

Thanks,

Caracal, yes there seem to be two different types of forest huts, we've booked one that says it has a water closet and shower - so it's probably the one you stayed in. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't a misprint on the reservation form. We stayed there two or three years ago and none of the huts had en suite then.

I seem to recall that there is only one equipped en suite forest hut at Storms River which was upgraded about 2 years ago .
It would be usefull to get confirmation on this as the F/Huts are to me the best units in the whole reserve .

@ ndloti Looks like I have got a reputation!! :D :D

Regrettably I have not been to Stormsriver lately, but you are absolutely right, I wont mind to spend all my days there. The most beautiful place on earth!

The forests huts, as far as my opinion goes, offer the best economy, but unfortunately only 1 offer a view. In the end it is all about budget.

I have also enjoyed two wonderfull stays in the Oceanettes. Fantastic view of the sea and dolphins.

Bottom line: The worst in Stormsrisver is still the best!

Caracal,

Do you remember if the hut had cutlery and crockery?

Yes it did Senyetse..but very basic. The communal kitchen is also very basic....unless it has been upgraded since I was there. The forest hut does not have a fridge..but there is a fridge or maybe two in the kitchen. This did not really affect us though because we went off to the restaurant for supper as well as breakfast the next morning. We then continued on our journey ! There is a braai attached to the balcony of the hut but if I remember correctly no braai grid.

Could anyone please tell me which of the FH2S forest huts at Storms River are the best to stay in? I know that there are two types of forest huts, but this one specifically has its own bathroom and toilet.
