Hi we went to MZP last month and were fortunate enough to come across this
wonderful cheetach who had just made a kill. We sat watching for a good
couple of hours, until he moved into thicker bush.

Enjoy.

Possible hybrid zebra in Mountain Zebra National Park?

Unread postby Ifubesi » Sat Dec 21, 2013 8:03 pm

We are currently concluding a wonderful stay at Mountain Zebra National Park.
This afternoon we saw an unusual zebra amongst a group of normal Mountain Zebras. It had some characteristics of both zebra species found in the park. The leg stripes to the hooves and brown nose (as in M Zebra) but also faint shadow stripes on the rear as well as stripes right onto the belly (as in Plain's Zebra). Is interbreeding of the 2 species possible and if so, is it wise to keep both species together on a relatively small reserve?
P.S I am trying to upload a photo but am struggling at the moment

This question came into my mind many times when both species were released in Karoo National Park. I was not aware that both species occur in MZNP too.

Hello.
I need help to identify this rabbit. Smith's or Natal??. (I think Natal by the thick tail, but not sure)
The photo is made in the camp of Mountain Zebra.
A greeting and thank you very much to all.
