International Wildcard: purchase new or update current?

Unread postby Utrecht » Thu Jul 14, 2011 10:00 pm

Hi everybody,

I bought a Wild Card in November 2009, when entering KTP. We are going back to SA later this year. Of course, it is no longer valid, but I wonder if it is better to:

1. Update my details and wait for a new one to arrive
2. Purchase just a new one and wait to arrive
3. Did what we did back in 2009 and buy one at the gate Twee Rivieren?

Read about some Wild Card problems lately and got worried and confused. I don't want to bother with online application for buying or renewing one and wait until the end of time for it to arrive. Better to just see at the gate?
About buying at the gate: I have read that you don't get the card anymore, but is send to your home afterwards, but you do pay and can get in? I don't get that, but whatever works.

Sorry for all those questions, but it seemed way easier two years ago than now!

Thanks!

Micheal, your old card will have to be replaced anyway. It seems, if I read the topics, that the numbering is different etc.
So do it the easy way, get it while checking in at Twee Rivieren. That is the least hassle.

You'll end up with a slip only, but are you going to be back within a year? If not, you do not really need the plastic card anyway. ;)

Thanks for the reply.
I think I might just do that, much easier and saves work now...:)

Thanks again!

Michael.

We bought ours at Skukuza in December...it took 5 minutes max. So easy.
They just need your basic details and passport.
I expect TR in Kgalagadi will be the same.

I think they will yes. At least they did two years ago and gave us the nice card right away. Too bad that is not the case now anymore....I liked that card next to my debit and credit cards... :D

Now it will just be a voucher or something....changes changes...not for the good always

Thanks
Michael
