Hi BushFairy,

Great question. Think I should pay more attention to the quiz pages as there's loads to learn here

Ok, here is my attempt at these,

a. Cheetah.
b. Leopard.
c. Lion & Leopard.
d. Caracal.
e. Brown Hyena (reintroduced 2008?)
f. Spotted Hyena.

Thanks for playing LL711, oddesy and barcud

These are the answers: :D

a) cheetah

b) leopard

c) leopard and caracal (lions do not usually do this IF feeding in a pride as they are in a rush to get their share, BUT they will do this if feeding alone, or with cubs when they are not under pressure)

d) leopard/caracal (the answer I was looking for here was the leopard - that's why I hinted at the stunted vegetation, BUT caracal will also do this to hide their prey, so both answers are correct  )

e) brown hyena (sorry about that odds, the research wasn't conducted in MZNP, I just gave that as an additional, but separate hint)

f) spotted hyena

So very well done to all of you!!
Your scores were all virtually the same, so whoever has a juicy question please fire away! Once again, thanks for playing

I have a quick question, but don't mind if any of the others also ask one as well.

Apologies if this is a repeated one

In a study of Kruger Leopards, how often, on average, does an adult Leopard kill an Impala?

I'm on my annual maintenance shutdown from now on, so won't be able to reply for a few weeks :hmz:

If anyone wants to ask another question in the meantime, feel free to ask away and I'll answer any replies to my question after I've done some of my own "research" into this question

Now then, wheres my passport gone?...........

Nice one!

Scientists in Kruger found that an adult Leopard kills on average one Impala a week.

(Source - Handbook of the Mammals of the World - Vol 1 - Carnivores. Lynx Edicions).
