Thank you for starting this thread, Cheetah2111, and all who commented already! Cheetah2111, as you know, we'll also be visiting the same area (see dates in my signature) - but will just be heading South as you head North... :wall: Maybe we'll meet on the road though - look out for our yellow ribbon! This road looks great! Spoke to a patient of mine today who's been visiting KNP for years - he reckons it is a road to avoid - apparently the ellies can get you in a corner there... But I'm willing to still give it a try - I'll just give the ellies their space...

I see your dates Bushbuddies! What a nice exploration of North and Central you have planned :D
Since you will be in the area before me you can give me tips  Are you taking a laptop or blackberry so you can get on the forums?? I'll have my ribbon on!

Ah how strange that our trips just seem to miss each other!! :slap: If you see a rugged/hippy looking student and his Chinese mate you know you have found us

If you go on any drives at Shingwedzi camp ... I heard from another formite to ask for Abel. he is apparently an excellent guide with great knowledge of the bush!

Be warned, it is a very long road, hence the linking road/s back to the tar!

I would seperate the Northern and Southern halves, they are a bit different!

I agree with ndloti...a must for the scenery and solitude...never know what's round the next corner, and obviously prime leopard country!

Have seen sable and tsessebe there too....no predators...

There was a major photo-op there in CUSTOS in the 90's, leopard catching warthog!

This is certainly one of our favourite roads . Never seen any predators , but plenty other animals . The little twists and turns can bring a surprise around any bend - especially if you suddenly find yourself in the middle of an ellie herd - even scary
And the trees , wow , I just love , love them :D

The views of the river bed along the part to the north of the Sirheni turn off are not as spectacular as those along the southern part as the road no longer follows the Mphongolo river , but a tributary of it .

Thanks Cheetah2111! We'll be on the lookout for you - you sound like an interesting person... :hmz:  Unfortunately - no blackberries in our house, and although the laptop will go with - I mainly use it to download pics at night, and don't have much time for anything else! (Hopefully I'll be so busy downloading all the brilliant pictures of the great sightings we're gonna have - I'd be too busy for anything else... )

My favourite road in the north. This is the only road in the north where I have seen white rhino. The main road to PM is also a great road for me.

I'm not scared of Elephants but then again never been to Shingwedzi so will see how attracted they are to me
