Born and bred Gautenger. Lived in Vanderbijlpark for most of my life with the exception of 5 years in Standerton Mpumalanga. Married a European so now living in Den Haag, Holland. But guess what? We'll be back to South Africa after retirement and planning to stay in Marloth Park.

Because you don't need a visa to travel anywhere in Europe and to the USA. With a SA passport we can't travel to anywhere except SA without applying for a visa. It was a real pain in the butt! Before July 2009 we could travel to the UK, but SA passport holders even need a visa to go there now.

Ironic really considering that South Africa was, in many ways, the pioneer of democracy and camaraderie in Africa. :hmz: Seems like the place to be is in Ireland. Except, of course, for Table Mountain, Kruger, Kgalagadi, the Garden Route, the Cape, and - I could on for ages here.

Welcome to you and feel free to post as you like. Some folks don't post because of a perceived language barrier. Here we read between the lines and not at grammar.

Welcome to the forums Lasabbry.

Although I am born and bred British (and proud of it) my second home has always been South Africa.
I am privileged to spend 6 months in UK each ear and 6 months in SA.
Thinking of Africa every day.
