There has been some widespread rains throughout the park and Twee Rivieren had some rain this morning, apparently they expect 80% rain for tomorrow and the rest of the week doesn’t look like we will get plenty of sunshine.

It rained in the Matta Matta area on Friday night (15th) , there where some pools of water in the roads, and it seemed like the area around 14th/13th boreholes had received a lot.
Hi Gavin, how goes . The grass isnt so long at tr, but is long at matta matta, although this did not seem to reduce the sightings, except just after the rain. The lions where roaming in the roads mostly, i dont think they like the grass lol.

Rain has been predicted until May. Winter has arrived in the Kgalagadi, yesterday night it was -1 degrees. The days are still warmish but the difference can be felt in the cool breeze.
Do pack in something warm when visiting

I suspect the Kalahari summer rains normally decrease towards the end of March with little in April , but even in the Johannesburg area there seems to be later than normal rain ?

To predict the weather for the Kgalagadi is not that easy any more. Last night there was thunder and rain all around (heavy storms). It looked like Nossob and Mata-Mata did get some heavy rains. The dry seasons would be from September - February (Then the rain normally: whistle: should start).
It is nice cool this morning and busy heating up, except for the one day now below zero it seems like a very pleasant day.

Kgalagadi has a summer rainfall season other than the cape which has winter rainfall.
Rain ' normally' starts en of January until end March begin April, but this year it started December and is still raining. Nossob had a good 22mm two nights ago.

Hi Ryl WELCOME to the forum Hope you spend many good hours here To answer your question , a definite YES. Take your warmest PJ's and also 'normal' ones. Even if you only need your warmest on one or two nights you will be pleased to have them with you !We have experienced that temperatures can change drastically from day to day and camp to camp Enjoy you stay.
