Fill-in flash with a soft box over the flash would have been great for both shot big5spotter

Hi Pikkie,

Great picture! just a couple of things I can see that need correcting.
- The picture is very dark and could be due to the underexposure
- The colours are too saturated

Did you change your camera settings?

Hi there;

I worked on it a little on a simple program everybody knows, Picasa.

I agree that I over saturated a bit!

If I can remember this was the only shot I could get before I could change my camera settings.

Pikkie,
I use Picasa too and noticed that it tends to over saturate so I stopped using it.

Do you still have the original pic?

I do, but I just have to find it.

What program are you using now or what do you suggest, I am not that a boff with computers, not a slouch but definitely not a boff.

I use Picasa for my picture archives, Lightroom for colour corrections and that stuff and Photoshop for any serious touch ups.
Lightroom is one of the best on the market, even if a bit on the expensive side, but results are super.

With a photo that has been altered by Picasa you can set it back to the original settings.

Can't find it yet, but I found another one but a different date.
Did nothing except adjust the contrast a little and flipped it horizontal.

Wow, did you use Lightroom? Does it come with a tutorial?

Wow what a difference?

Is the photo any good or boring? Composition?

Pikkie, it looks good.
The only thing I can suggest is to use some fill-in flash to counter some of the shadows.
Having said that, the texture of the feathers and facial skin have come out nicely with the existing lighting (and there is a small catch light in the eye).

The DOF and bokeh are nice, well done.
I like the composition. The grass is slightly distracting but not much you can do about that.

Well done :)

Well, I didn't manage to actually add my photo to this post, so I'll have to do it with an url:

http://yfrog.com/h611jmdj

Please be so kind to give your comments on this photo... A full speed cheetah...

Difficult light (late in the afternoon)... I had to use ISO 1000, 1/250 sec. And the cheetah was so fast...

I did not edit the photo yet, except for some cropping...
