Seen on the S63 tar road to Pafuri borderpost in January 2011. Seems to be feeding on a Rock Monitor.

An amazing sighting I had at Satara Gate. Sorry to report the Martial eagle came second, with a broken leg, and scars, while the bateleur flew off.

I took the following picture of a Martial Eagle at the Malelane gate. Before I could get a second picture, the Martial Eagle took off...

Still glad I could get this picture.

The following picture of a Juvenile Martial Eagle was taken on the S25 close to Crocodile-Bridge. It took a while to ID the bird, as this one was very big, and had no spots on the belly. The spots on the hind-neck and mantle and the size of this bird made me decide that this is indeed a Martial Eagle (Juvenile).

A good area to see Martial Eagle is Satara. Have noted sightings most frequently on the s100 and H1-3.

I had an interesting sighting in the KTP recently when I saw a Martial Eagle in a small thorn bush breaking off branches to use as nesting material. Here the Martial flies off with the material. Must be a prickly nest and I hope they line it out with something soft.
