An amazing sighting I had at Satara Gate. Sorry to report the Martial eagle came second, with a broken leg, and scars, while the bateleur flew off.

Very exciting sighting  Was there any particular reason that the two raptors were fighting?

I took the following picture of a Martial Eagle at the Malelane gate. Before I could get a second picture, the Martial Eagle took off... :(

Still glad I could get this picture. :D

The following picture of a Juvenile Martial Eagle was taken on the S25 close to Crocodile-Bridge. It took a while to ID the bird, as this one was very big, and had no spots on the belly. The spots on the hind-neck and mantle and the size of this bird made me decide that this is indeed a Martial Eagle (Juvenile).

Hi vgs, I'd say:

- I think this is an immature Martial Eagle.

Cheers

Niall.

A good area to see Martial Eagle is Satara. Have noted sightings most frequently on the s100 and H1-3.
