I appear in Namibia and the Northern Cape.

I like to dance with my white dress. In fact, I do drumming too, making use of seismication. I can lure a male a mile away in one night, although, if he gives me the wrong message, it might be his last message.

What am I?

Is this the White Lady?
I don't know the common name off hand, but its a large spider which roams the sand dunes and is called the white lady as the female is a very light coloration

Spot on, Ross!

Leucorchestris (white lady spiders)

Leucorchestris is a psammophilous genus occurring on sand dunes in arid areas. It is reported to be the largest sparassid in southern Africa but it does not appear to be larger than Palystes martinfilmeri. Originally thought to be a Namibian genus it has since been collected or photographed from Port Nolloth to Witsand Nature Reserve in the Northern Cape. Known commonly as white lady spiders one species is known to do a dance and is known as the Dancing White Lady. The purpose of this dance is to communicate to other males or females by drumming the tarsae against the sand. The common name is referable to the colour of this genus. Wit dame and Dansende wit dame are the respective Afrikaans names. The retreat consists of a short wide silk bound burrow.

I have bright colors to ward off any potential predators in my watery environment that it is best not to eat me.

Hey Ross! Glad to have you playing on the quizzes! Welcome.

If it is a frog, there are many that use bright colours to telegraph that they're unavailable for consumption. Perhaps an itsy-bitsy clue to narrow the range a little?

  Thanks Ross.

I have teeth and give birth twice in a row from a single mating. I am a bit shallow. From time to time I visit homes and I like tree climbing too.

Give birth twice in a row :hmz: maybe a creature (arthropod) with a spermatheca? The shallow part must mean it is brightly coloured or has some other eye catching appendage so something which the female selects for in the male (sexual selection).
