Sigh ...............

What a joy it was to be able to spend two nights camping at Bontle camp , despite the rain it was pleasant and peaceful . Absolutely breath taking scenery and loveley diverse flora especially seeing fynbos atop Lenong view point ( what a drive ).

Also a pleasure not to have to worry about the people chasing the "big 5" . My time was spent relaxing on slow drives winding its way through immaculate bush and superb roads.
I would recommend Marakele ( dare i do that ........?) to anybody looking for a Sanparks get away close to joburg .

back to reality and will be back again and again.

how do the rest feel about marakele?

One of the overlooked gems of our beautiful country. No big five - less visitors - a beautiful place to relax in and enjoy

Marakele and especially Bontle campsite is awesome! I feel the same about this piece of paradise as BB feels about Tamboti - keep it just the way it is! :D

I also like Marekele. We were there last year on a day visit. However, I really want to go for a weekend and stay over at Bontle camping site to meet the rhinos up close and personal *sigh*.

The road up to the view point - that is another story...

I will agree with you eagle owl . The road to the view point can be " the road less travelled "
by the time i got to the top i was a bit nauseas and had to come down which was not to bad.
Realy a gem of a place and so nice to do some good tree spotting with out being asked where is the LEOPARD ????

The rains have certainly made the park nice and green and a sight to behold.

Next trip is end of february wow cannot wait. :D :D :D

Hi everyone!
I am also thinking about a 3 nights stay in Marakele in February. I was looking about some informations about Marakele but I got so many different ones :wall: :wall:

I have got a book about Nationalparks in SA and I read today that there are also wilddogs and sabels in Marakele?

All in all I am very curious now about Marakele, I think it must be a very beautiful park! Especially now after all that rain.

If anyone has helpful tips for me you are very welcome to send me a pm! Thanks

I am looking forward to your TR etienne!!! :D

Wish you all a wonderful week!

Karin
