Thank you, Rosemary! But I was planning to send out a search party :P

I don't have a question to hand, so if anybody wants to post one, well, the header says OQ, so please feel free to entertain us all.

If nobody else is about to ask a question, how about this (partly based on a 'Round Britain Quiz' offering of a year or 2 back)?

A Russian novelist, a German ex-Chancellor and an American film maker met in a place better than elsewvere, and there collected samples of the local speciality. They then went to set up camp near the River of Joy. What was their dinner?

River of Joy: more recent park literature has this as an interpretation of the meaning. Older literature says "from the mountains". (this may be a clue. But the whole thing does describe part of what we do in a park.

 Richprins -- right river

Rosemary: wrong Russian. The one I'm thinking of was a Soviet-era writer who won a Nobel prize for literature with a book that was made into a Hollywood movie, the soundtrack of which still surfaces occasionally.

One would presume the "delicacy" was Mopane worms...

Chancellor maybe Willie Brandt?

Or is this much older, as they set up camp themselves?

It’s been a long time –
Just a quick easy one to get back into the swing of things

PL –(Place)

A pencil or pen will be needed to make notes at the start.
It is hidden in here so don’t take off like a dart!

With the correct writing tool in your hand,
Head off east along this beautiful land.

Perhaps you might notice a drink for a house :?
Or a tree made of canvas, not fit for a mouse.

Now, stay close to the water along the way.
Although, it’s quite bitter, the Shangaan people say!

Many bushbucks may drink there, under the sky,
For it has been said, it will never run dry.

You should now be approaching the place of the frogs
Unless you’ve been held up by a sighting of dogs! :cam:

Make sure you don’t miss, a baboon, that’s waiting for you.
And you might want to thank him, for sharing the view.

Be very careful, if you do stretch your legs.
If you go too far, you’ll be over the edge.
