We visited Golden Gate National Park for a weekend early in January. What a beautiful park! We stayed in Glen Reenen. The scenery was truly magnificent and GREEN!

To wet the appetite of those thinking of going... a few pictures:

Bushbuddies,

Great pics of a green Golden Gate. :D and buzzard if I am not mistaken. :cam:

Did you you go for a swim in that pool. We were there last year March and by 11 year old son and his friend did a quick dip into the pool and got out quickly.

It was overcast and rainy most of the time - with temperatures never going above 25'C if I have to guess... So no - there was no need to cool off, and I'm sure that pool would've been VERY cold!!!

Bushbuddies thank you for sharing your great pictures. Golden Gate is indeed a very special National Park. We also like Glen Reenen Camp.

Hi Bushbuddies

Thank you for the lovely pictures of a truly beautiful camp!
I travelled there in December, and was very impressed by the lovely green grass.

Just a question: Did you by any chance also have the weird experience of coming across BIG herds of animals in the new/Qua Qua section of the park? I am talking of 100 head of cattle in one herd, and about 50+ donkeys in another herd grazing just before the pass into the old section of the park begins.
Does anybody know if Sanparks is perhaps starting some kind of a donkey trail in the park?

Just curious!

God bless,

Friedrich von Hörsten

Yes, Friedrich, we did see a lot of cattle herds in this area, not really donkeys though...
