Hi Micetta
Yes we have morning drives too, which go out at 8:00,this time is a little late and i have to take it up with management to go out earlier.
Minimum persons is 4 for for both night/morning drives.
The Dassie trail is a short trail about 5km long wich take about 3hours,a map will be available at the reception.(Selfguided trail)
I will correspond this time through to you.

Hi Panekoek
R130-per person/minimum has to be 4, before a drive can go out.
Approximately 2 hours long.
Starts at 7
Bookings have to be made before 5 at reception.
Formal education in conservation can be obtained through UNISA,by doing National Diploma, it takes about 3years of which 1 year is practical, through distance learning about 5 years.19 subjects in total and 3 practical courses.
Appointments for rangers to perform basic conservation duties requirements are as follows:A grade 12 certificate
Firearm competency certificate(in some instances)
A valid code B drivers license
added advantages would be to study in the field of conservation.
Knowledge of the Protected areas Act.
Hopes this help, suggest to contact UNISA

Thank you Mario! How long does it last? Is it early enough to book the day before or is advanced booking better?

By entering the game area after just 20mm of rainfall there were a change in the vegetation as Black Thorn Acasia Mellifera has started to get some leaves.Just amazing what a drop of water in this arid region can do.
A herd of eland was spotted with a pair of Verraux eagles flying close over us.
gemsbok, springbok, giraffe, hartmann zebra, porcupine, spotted eagle-owl,nightjars and hares was also seen.
One of the larks was almost confusing tourist as it seems that somebody was whistling at us,after noticing it close to the truck.

I had a drive this morning and this is what we have seen, giraffes browsing in dry river bed close to waterhole, troop of baboons, lots of springbok, klipspringers and a very young leopard tortoise passing the road.
lots of dassies, yellow mongoose and ground squirrels as well.

Ossendrywer the park is divided in 3 sections and base on observations by rangers and night drives this is what we have Western Section 1 leopard sighting.
Central Section 7 sightings,1killing
Northern Section 1 sighting,2killings on 1sight and 1 on another.
There migth be more or less, could be that the same leopards is seen more than one's as the area is so rocky and as soon as these animals are spotted they move of.The sighting on the Western Section was early morning and on the Northern section as well.
Indirect precence of them are find as killings, spoor and faeces. There is at this stage no formal program to determine the precise nr. of leopards.

Ossendryver you was definitely at the right place at the right time.
My best sighting was a few years ago on a nightdrive when I was sitting on the back of a landrover and doing the spotting.Only 3 metres away, the leopard was sort of crawling away from us with it's back towards us.
