We love this particular road, especially the stretch closest to C B. Have seen leopard, lion wild dog, rhino and ellie plus all the other game along here. A special place for us is the bridge across the biyamiti river as we have seen lion with cubs in this river bed on more than one accasion, ground hornbill, ellie and leopard in the river bed. Its a nice place to stop for coffee and muffins as you can sit there and watch the bee eaters busy in the mud bank opposite if there is no other activity. I know you can see the sugar cane fields from here, but we still enjoy the spot. But as is usual in any game park its a matter of being in the right place at the right time!

Biyamiti causeway is where we were heading for (heard about a lion kill there) and on the way we had a 'purple patch', hyena, doggies, leopard & eles. We saw the lions, a bit of an anticlimax thereafter, lying in the riverbed, and just on the Biyamiti side of the river, a lovely pair of African hawk eagles.

Fantastic road, and always worth while to drive slowly.

Might even see "my leopard" seen there last June.

I think one can divide this road into two sections - the western part up to the Biyamiti River, and the obvious eastern section.

The latter has a systematic vegetation change, and far more animals in my experience.

However, an interesting question which some may be able to shed light on:

Up to about 2003 the road was nicknamed "Pad van die Dood", (Dead Road) by a few of us locals.
Since then it has provided a dramatic increase in predator sightings, in our experience.

Anyone share this view?

Not much Just before closing time, we heard about 2 male lions in Dec 2006, that had brought down a buff on the Biyamiti causeway.
We decided to check it out next morning. Just off the tar road, we saw a hyena, then a herd of eles, then a hyena ran onto the road with an impala head trailing giblets, then we saw 5 wild dogs on roadside, and just further on the road, a leopard. Then we got to the lions, a bit of an anticlimax, as they were just lion around, then a beautiful pair of African Hawk eagles. I could do with that type of 120 minutes any day.

Hi All,
Over the years i have had incredible experiences along this road-ellies,cheetah,buffalo,lions,rhino,leopard,wilddog the most notable being a pack of 21 wilddogs including pups,a giraffe kill on the road and a buff kill closer to Croc bridge.
This is a road to drive slowly and to be patient at all times,as others have said the only negative is the over the river view.

Gunner, a friend of mine saw a pack of 15 Wild Dog on this road last week - more towards the Biyamiti turn-off from the S25.

Someone posted in November that they saw 5 Leopards within 90 minutes from Berg-en-Dal, S114 and S25 to the Gardenia hide

A matter of being in the right place at the right time. Hope you get lots of great sightings.

Really a very good road over the last 5 years or so.
Also White rhino and elephant that morning! (Not good pics )

Those vultures were incredibly patient as the females kept them at bay for 2 days so that the cubs could feed. Just as a matter of interest that giraffe was actually brought down on the road on Tuesday morning last week and Daniel found it on his way to the hippo pools. He called for help and the ranger from Croc Bridge obliged by moving the carcass off the road. Daniel also told us that he had seen a leopard at 1.30 p.m. at the back of the large outcrop of rocks at Hippo Pools proving that there are no hard and fast rules as Wednesday (when he spotted it) happened to be one of the hottest afternoons in the two weeks we were in the Park. I am sad to say though that a sighting like the giraffe brings out the worst in people and we were nearly involved in a very serious accident when we were overtaken by a Prado (Reg No. PZZ 463 GP) doing over 100 km's an hour in his endeavour to get to the kill and he overtook us at this speed straight towards an oncoming vehicle. He then proceeded to force his way into a prime spot at the kill. He was reported at the gate as we had to take serious evasive action to avoid the accident by driving off road! I believe this pride of lion consists of 18 and the pride known as the Marloth Park Pride numbers 19 so the lion population on the S25 is thriving!

We have travelled this road over the last 15 years on a regular basis.

The part from Malelane (starting with the S114) until approx. 8 km past the S119 connection has seldom been very productive for us. But the rest almost always give great sightings. Plenty of Elephant on this route, especially in the winter.

I do believe that this is one of the more productive Wild dog roads in the park. Have seen them there more times than I can remember.

My Friends are driving through S25 right now.. when im writing this message and they are seeing 5 Huge male Lions......walking beside their car....

i have driven through this road atleast 6 times and i have seen Lions 3 times....

Yes, saw wild dog last year on this road, and family group of lions, with several small cubs, and round the corner a cheetah.
We thought we were at the zoo.
So many goos sightings all in one go!!!!

I really like this road too. Earlier this year I saw a pack of wild dogs playing in the water on this road. Just over the hill was a pride of lion.

I've seen leopard on this road many times, including a very tiny cub in the Bume riverbed.

A fabulous road and a must when you're in the area

Sounds to me like a road which has produced more promising sightings in recent years

Sounds like it is good for spotting wild dogs
And lions

But isn't that strange Surely where lions are prominent wild dogs stear clear?
