Well, I didn't think to bring a camera!

Great to meet the famous Prings at last and we even had a bit of sunshine (unusal for Sydney at this time of year).

Sorry, Weesy, this was a bit of a spur of the moment thing. Maybe the Prings's have time for a quick catch up en-route to Kruger when they pass through Sydney again?

Hi Ozzie forumites! :yaya:

Just thought I'd check in and see if you were having a meet next month (as I will be visiting Syd-en-eeeee from Perth)... probably should have checked a little earlier, as it looks as though I just missed one! :wall:

Next time I'm heading over I'll give a bit more notice.
If anyone's heading over to Perth one of these days, definitely get in touch

Sawubona all you 'mites out there.
This is a big hello from the 1st Melbourne forum meet ever.

We are having a blast sharing all our sanpark adventures and pics and we've even braved the Melbourne weather for some birding....and managed to get Moose a few ticks.

Present at the Meet: Moose, the baas, nala, rusky jr and rusky. Pic to follow

Melbourne Mini Meet

Crawled out of bed at 9am after a late night. OMG Moose is arriving in a couple of hours and i still had to get lunch organised. :wall:

Quickly made up the minced kebabs, salad and potatoes and as i was about to do the dishes the door bell rings .... or rather knocks. It's Moose.

The first few moments are a little awkard as we have not met before but we're quickly into familiar experiences territory of Kruger and KTP and we are talking like we've know each other for ages.

Moose plugs in her laptop and we're soon getting an insiders view (and tips) into the Kgalagadi (and how to pronounce it!). We even get to see and hear about her most recent trip to Kruger.......the one that she is currently writing. We're also taken for a photo tour of the Cheetah Outreach that Moose volunteers at....WOW! Then we're sharing our Kruger Trip with Moose and reliving our entire first timers experience (TR link is in my signature).

Oh yes somewhere inbetween "The bass" has cooked up the lunch I was supposed to be doing because I was so engrossed in the pics. And as we sit down "the baas" says "I just bit into a bone in this minced Kebab" :hmz: to which Moose, who has finished off half her kebab" replies " me too, but i just thought it was a crunchy bit". The Baas and I look at each other in horror. "Oh no I defrosted the pet food mince by mistake" she says.

Well we have all lived to tell the tale.

After kunch we decide to brave the overcast, grey , deary Melboune day to see if we can get some lifers for Moose's Aussie list. Its a tough day for birding but we still manage 3 (Moose i think we missed counting the little black commorant besides white plumed honeyeater and black faced cuckoo shrike).

Back for a quick dinner (yep we were having so much fun that the time just flew) a quick top up of oil in Moose's car which had stated flashing an emergency light on the way to our place and the meet came to an end.

we do hope that we have you back again some time Moose and that all goes well with your move back to the UK.....till you find your way back to the place that we all love. Better still we hope we can catch up with you in Kruger/KTP...now wouldn't that be awesome.

Thanks for sharing the pic, and a huge  on the meet! Well done! I find it so awesome that mites all over the globe continue to arrange 'meets'.

So now, say Kgalagadi for us

Hahaha... if he learned how to pronounce it from me, that isn't a good thing...

I'm getting better at pronunciation! I think... maybe not...

*clears throat* *makes really unpleasant spit sound* *tries again* *fails* *gives up*

After the HUGE success of the mini- Melbourne Meet with Moose the Ruskies were wondering if we have any vege - mites in Queensland - around Brisbane, Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast areas.

We will be up there on holidays for 10 days and maybe could hook up.

29 June - 1 july Sunshine Coast
2-5 July: Lamington National Park (Gold Coast)
5-8 July Brisbane.

Either post here or pm me.

Thanks
