That is terrible news, he truly was a gentle giant. South gate area will never be the same again. :(

Just read this article. Although it is nature, I’m not sure I would have enjoyed watching something like that. :(

Just read this now, so sad :( Not the nicest news to wake up to and see in the morning. It's all part of the circle of life, but still a sad day...

Can someone tell me if this is Skukuza? We went to Addo in January, and snapped some pics of this one-tusked Elephant, and do not think there are too many missing a tusk, and now I am wondering if it is him.

a sad say indeed. he was one of the things we always looked forward to in addo.

i remember a day at rooidam when he charged at our car!!! that made every subsequent visit even more exciting.

rest in peace, big guy!
Camdeboo a real gem

Very sad -- but that's nature

A question : will they leave his body to feed the scavengers or will they remove it ?

Surely there are not enough "natural" scavengers to reduce an ellie body ? Thinking lack of vultures here :hmz:

Hoep Hoep, I share your sentiments - though I never got to see the big guy! Rest in Peace O big One!

I just feel so sad, yet even though I know that nature has it's own rules!
