Ndloti, I've checked, it's gonna be impossible for me to do so BUT i do intend to walk it ASAP Public holidays don't look too favourbale

Getting leave might be sticky, but I'd be interested in trying to organise it. There might also be some Jewish holidays round then which could be a problem. I'll look into it and get back to you.

I'm a bit confused about something: The press release states that the first backpack trail will depart on Wednesdays and Sundays. The press release also states that the first trail will depart on 1 April 2010. 1 April 2010 is a Thursday, not a Wednesday. Will the first trail depart on a Thursday, i.e. Thursday 1 April 2010, or will it depart on Wednesday 31 March 2010?

Can anyone confirm whether the trail will in fact run from 1 Feb to 30 Nov?

This year the trail is only open from April 1. Maybe it is meant to start in February in the future.

How about a forum trail from Wed 27 April (Freedom Day) to Sun 1 May (Workers' Day) in 2011?

I understand the participants changing of plans , cancelling , asking for help to fill their places and ending up with totally unsuitable participants , needing advice , arranging shared transport etc. makes co-ordinating such an excursion just not worth the hastle .
Believe me , I have experience of such from co-ordinating the tame wilderness trails .

Time to talk about these relatively untouched places ...

One, possibly two vacancies have arisen for our trip starting on May 2. As seen in my signature, we are staying over in Shingwedzi the night before ,May1,and we are also staying on for a few days longer at Punda. These last 2 days are not "compulsory".
Please let me know if anyone is interested as soon as possible. This will be a trip to remember!
Total costs to be R1944.45 per person plus petrol and food. It will be less if not staying over at Punda afterwards (in tents)
