We saw this Bateleur circling around , then dive down behind some trees . Coming round the bend , there he was sitting in the road , busy stripping the skin from what appears to be a smallish black mamba .
Image

Then he ate the innards , bit by bit .
Image
Then he proceeded trying to swallowing it .

And he swallowed .
Image
And swallowed , but it was just too big , so he pulled it out again .Image
Image
Then he tried to swallow it again , and after again failing to swallow it , he flew off with it dangling from his beak .
Tread softly , and let your departure not be spoiled by the damage of your arrival

I find it a challenge photographing black birds like Bataluers (also Verreauxs Black Eagles) but I was very fortunate with the lighting of this Bat. I shot in Kgalagadi. One of my favourite birds the Bataluer.

Bateleurs are such "photogenic " birds :cam:

Here's one we saw feeding on a kudu carcass early one morning on the S100 .
