Glen Reenen: What is in the rondawel kitchen?

Unread postby Nicovdd » Sat Sep 13, 2008 10:02 pm

Hi,

I've booked a Rondawel (HKB2) at Glen Reenen.

What is in the kitchen?

Pots, pans, cutlery, plates, glasses, utensils?

Stove, microwave?

Many thanks

Nico

Hi Nicovdd, and a warm welcome to the forums!

Unfortunately I haven't stayed in one of the GG rondawels recently, but in every SANPark I have visited (a long list  ), crockery, cutlery and pots are provided. The exception is some of the Kruger huts, but for those is an explicit statement that utensils are not supplied.

I would expect a fridge, and a two-plate stove as well. I would be surprised to see a microwave.

I usually take my own sharp knives and tin-opener. These are generally provided, but they often not that great.

Can any other forumite confirm?

Hi there,

I don't know about the Glen Reenen rondavels, but I just stayed in a 3 bed rondavel at Skukuza. It had a fridge, hotplate, knives, forks, spoons, glasses, cups, plates, kettle (not electric) and some cast iron pots. Would recommend taking a sharp knife & cutting board.

Hi HS,

We were there earlier this month, but did not stay at the campsite.

We drove past the campsite a few times. It looks lovely - loads of shade. And they looked like they were renovation the ablution facilities.

Only negative, is the road that runs thro the park, which is a through road, runs by the camping area. But I do not think this is a huge problem.

Have a read here too.

Kitchen facilities at Glen Reenen camp site

Unread postby Lyndal » Tue Feb 24, 2009 9:19 pm

Hi all!

My husband and I are going to Golden Gate for 4 nights in mid-March. I haven't been there in many years... Does anyone know if there are kitchen facilities (like the afdakkies in Kruger with a stove, urn and sinks) at Glen Reenen?

Thanks!

Yay!! That's fantastic!

Still going to get a Cadac number 7, but I must admit that I prefer not to rough it too much!

Will be camping in Glen Reenen over Easter.
Are there communal fridge/freezer facilities at the camp?
Are the campsites well treed? (I'd like to hang up a hammock)

I don't know about the freezer, but setting up a hammock should be no problem.
