Micetta, some of Hugh's posted pix are of "the rest of the park". The beach photo is taken, I believe, at Tsaarsbank, and the following one is atop the Seeberg viewpoint.

If you'd like to see more pix, have a look at my WCNP trip reports from 2007 and 2006. This park is timeless, so the pix in these older trip reports reflect the park as it is today  I've been visiting WCNP several times annually since 2006 and will be there again soon, definitely one of my favourite parks!

Arks I only went thru that park when the Osteospermum were in full bloom. Is there a lot of fijnbos there to?

SZ, if you take a look at my trip reports, you'll see pix of a variety of flowers and plants. This park is beautiful at all times of year and in all types of weather as well. Last September I went there on a cold and rainy day (I figured that the warmest place that day would be in my car!) and found the difference in appearance and atmosphere fascinating. Even tho the flowers were not open, there was lots of colour and I saw probably as much "game" as on a sunny day, tho probably fewer birds. And the surf at Tsaarsbank was thrilling!!!

Just "driving through" you may not see much. This is a park where you need to go slowly and take the time to look out for the smaller things that you might not spot if you are just driving through. I'm no good at Latin plant names, so don't know what "Osteospermum" are, but there is plenty of interesting fynbos, I think of both the strandveld and renosterveld types.

Thanks for this Arks..Osteospermum are Cape Daisies

I spent a lot of time looking at fijnbos on the mountains and esp in the Cape Point nature reserve, but never thought of looking for it around Langebaan.

Sorry Elizabeth, us chatting ladies high jacking your thread...

Hi Hugh
We spent a night at Abrahamskraal last september and it was beautiful. The tree at the back was full of nesting cape weavers, we had a kestrel on the wall and the bird hide looked over the pan which was full of noise and excitement!! I could quite willingly spend a lot of time there. there were tortoises in the grass verge all along the road. Truly magical.
