Yes, I can agree with you on that. I have found Sigma lenses just as good as original Nikon and differences can only be seen in particular conditions and by expert eyes.

M'rutti, Josh, N'owl and all of you, time has arrived
for me to go back to my archives. Visuals speak louder
than words. To date, thank you all for participating in
this thread.
Brand names don't neccessarily make for good pictures.

It's not the brand.
The glass helps a little.
But it is the way that the equipment is used.

Sure, and the Nikon menu system makes using it properly that much easier ;)

A large local retailer are having specials!
Nikon D90 body, don't have all the detail
with me and two lenses,- 945 something.
Seems a bargain.

I'm sure you are referring to the deal with the 18-55 and 55-200 mm VR (vibration reduction) lenses.
This is excellent value for money. You can't go wrong with it.

HE, I started off with a D50 and then passed to the D80 and only recently to the D90. All three great cameras but find that D90 is the most complete and every shot comes out perfect! :D

Ditto! I've been using a Nikon D90 now for more than two years and still can't get enough of it! :cam:

I have recently purchased this special that you mentioned (R%,495) and it is the best investment that I have ever made. I am sitting at the office everyday counting the seconds for the day to end so that I can practice in my garden. I have sold the 55-200 though and replaced it with the new 55-300mm. Not the best lense in the world but certainly GREAT value for money. (Yes there is a difference!) Will be in the park next week to continue my endless training and experimenting.

55-200mm zoom seems to be the limit vander.
Anything higher and the construction/components
of the lenses become difficult with result,- loss of
quality, though maybe practical. Fixed focal lenses
then become superior though cumbersome and
expensive.

Oh can someone please put me out of misery!!
D90 a bargain yes though still a lot of dough Joe!
When next I appear with cupped hands then you
will know.
