Most popular DSLR

Unread postby Switchback » Fri Jun 11, 2010 7:11 am

One website I visit quite often is Digital Photography School, they always have interresting tips, tricks and hint. They also run a few polls every now and then.

It came out that the most popular DSLR camera (not brand) used by it's readers is the Nikon D90! Glad I made a good choice 2-years ago!

Here's the website: Digital Photography School

Have to agree with Massimo  ! The Nikon D90 was a bit on the heavy side and didn't fit as nicely in my hands as the Canon. But the Nikon is more professional and also a bit more expensive... So maybe a Nikon D90 if you're leaning towards the professional, but for me the Canon 450D is perfect.

I have to agree with all you are saying, but in the end it is the "eye" and the lens that makes a great photo and not the camera.
That is merely an asset.

How about the Sanparks Camera Club running a similar poll. Would it yield a different response? I've got a Canon 450D, but have used a freinds Nikon D90 and must say that they are both good for what they were intended. The lenses you fit and also the skill set of the user has the biggest impact on the quality of picture.

Amongts family and friends there is fairly even split with regards to the Nikon v Canon debate. Worldwide the market share is also very similar between the two brands.

Skukuza 18-20 April
Lower Sabie 21-24 April
Satara 25-29 April

Switchback, over here in Italy Canon was ahead of Nikon for a while. That is until Nikon came out with the D80 and then it's D90.
One of my best friends sells photographic equipment and at the moment D90 is outselling all other Nikon and Canon models 2 to 1.
So far it has proved, at least to me!, one of the best around and does a superb job!

A poll would not say anything. You would need a way larger amount of people to vote to get a real picture.
The best way is probably to look at the Equipment topic, where a lot of people published their gear.
Arriving currently: The photos from our trip! Overhere! :yaya:
